Welcome
Geriatrician Led Expert Assessment for Complex Needs
I’m a Consultant Geriatrician and work at Rotherham General Hospital & Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. I run specialist private clinics at Circle Thornbury Hospital and Spire Claremont Hospital.
With over 20 years of experience, I offer in-depth, consultant-led assessments that address the full spectrum of age-related health concerns.
Older adults often present with multiple interacting problems — medical, cognitive, functional and social. Standard clinic appointments can struggle to address this complexity.
My specialist private clinic delivers:
✅ Specialist memory assessments for diagnosis of dementia
✅ Expert management of stroke, TIA, and Parkinson’s disease
✅ Diagnosis and treatment of dizziness, falls, frailty, and multimorbidity

CONSULTANT LED CARE FOR COMPLEX CASES
Why See a Consultant Geriatrician for Memory Problems?
Memory difficulties in older adults are rarely caused by a single condition. They often arise from a combination of physical illness, medications, neurological disease, frailty, mood changes and social factors.
A Consultant Geriatrician is specifically trained to assess this complexity and to manage the interaction between multiple health problems.
A geriatrician acts as a central coordinator, bringing together all aspects of health into a coherent plan for the patient and family.
A Whole-Person Medical Assessment — Not Just Mental Health
✔ Detailed medical evaluation
✔ Neurological examination
✔ Medication review (polypharmacy)
✔ Identification of delirium and acute illness
✔ Assessment of frailty and physical function
✔ Cardiovascular and stroke risk evaluation
✔ Parkinson’s and movement disorders
✔ Falls and mobility problems
✔ Nutritional and metabolic factors
Many of these issues lie outside the primary focus of mental health services but strongly influence cognition and independence. A geriatrician integrates all of these into a single, coordinated plan.

Compassionate care: The process
How does it work?
My assessment aim to understand, diagnose correctly, and offer a clear, practical management plan tailored to each individual. What I offer –
01.

First Consultation : Home or Clinic
First consultation is arranged within 24 hours. I meet the patient either at home or in clinic. I make a holistic assessment by taking a detailed history, including memory concern, medical background, daily functioning, social context and input from family or carer.
02.

Detailed Physical Examination
I conduct a structured physical and neurological examination, including cognitive screening, gait and balance assessment, frailty scoring, and system review to inform diagnosis and to make a holistic care plan.
03.

Cognitive test & Other Investigation
Relevant tests are requested to reach a final diagnosis which may include blood tests and imagings. If dementia is suspected then, Full cognitive and other functional tests are performed.
04.

Understanding the Diagnosis and Next Steps
After explaining the diagnosis, I work with you and your family to create a care plan that meets your need. I share the final report with your GP and you also get a copy .

What my patients say
Real Experiences, Real Care.
Excellent rating
Based on 30 reviewsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I booked a private consultation with Dr. Jah for my mum, and the experience was excellent. He was kind, professional, and made her feel completely at ease. Everything ran on time, and the follow‑up report was clear, detailed, and genuinely helpful. I’m really grateful for the care he provided — the service was outstanding from start to finish. Nicola WiddowsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Jha understands how important it is to make the consultation as relaxed and calm as possible. His review appointment was exactly this. He communicates extremely well and as a family we are very grateful for his care. Kathryn WellsTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Really helpful. Got to see us the same day. Makes my husband feel at ease and diagnosed straight away with the signs and symptoms he had. It’s not the first time we have seen him and both times efficient, helpful and really supportive. Helen WeatherstonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would highly recommend Dr Jha. He came out to visit my 94 year old mother in her sheltered accommodation at very short notice and when we were desperate. He spent two hours assessing her. He put her very much at her ease. As a consequence of the resulting report and diagnosis we were able to make plans for her future safety and health. She was also able to start on a regime of medication that has made an enormous difference. She is now in a Care Home but as a result of his diagnosis and medication she is thriving once again. Without his timely intervention I fear she would not be with us today. Maggie ThurmanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very professional and we got an appointment straight away I wouldn't hesitate to recommend 😊 Karina PridgeonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Jha replied very promptly to my initial enquiry and was willing to visit my aunt and assess her at her Care Home in Mexborough within 2 days. We received his report (in the form of a letter to the GP) and the required PA14 Medical Certificate form the next day. We were very grateful for his swift and professional work. The supervisor at my aunt’s Care Home reported that Dr Jha had a very patient and understanding manner with my aunt, putting her at ease. He had a sensitive approach to which my aunt responded well. He was respectful and understanding when she became agitated. He made a thorough assessment of my aunt which took, as he had said it would, about 2 hours. I have been very pleased with, and grateful for, every aspect of Dr Jha’s work. Mrs Helen Garner Nigel GarnerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr Jha provided a professional service to my father in law throughout. There was a prompt response to the initial enquiry and he explained everything clearly and fully. Contact was easy to achieve and we would recommend his services. Liz MilneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Tracey DayTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Following a viral infection 12 months ago, my husband gradually deteriorated despite various investigations revealing no obvious cause. After a lengthy consultation with Dr Jha we are so very grateful that at last we now have diagnosis. As a family, we can now move forward to ensure David leads the best life possible in a caring, loving & supportive environment. Pamela GraysonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Speedy service from Dr Jha, scans arranged and follow up consultation was very clear and easy to understand for my 86 year old father. First class service from Dr Jha. I would highly recommend Julie Mcnicholas
