About Dr Pravin Jha
I’m a consultant geriatrician, specialist physician and memory specialist in Sheffield, with more than 20 years’ experience caring for older people. In the NHS I am a consultant at Rotherham General Hospital and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield. Privately, I see patients at Spire Claremont Hospital, Circle Thornbury Hospital and LivingCare, at home within 50 miles of Sheffield, and by video anywhere in the UK.
My work
A consultant who looks at the whole person
Geriatric medicine is the specialty of older people’s health. Most of the people I see have more than one problem: memory changes alongside falls, Parkinson’s disease alongside dizziness, or several medicines interacting with each other. Treating each symptom separately rarely works.
So I assess everything together, in a Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, and agree one clear plan with the patient and their family. I see every patient myself, from the first appointment to follow-up, and every consultation ends with a written report for the patient and their GP.
Families often come to me when an older relative is struggling and nobody has looked at the whole picture. I take time to listen to them, because they often notice changes first.
