Video consultations

Video consultations with a consultant geriatrician

I’m Dr Pravin Jha, a consultant geriatrician. I offer video consultations by a secured video link to people anywhere in the UK, from the comfort of home. Video suits follow-up appointments, second opinions, and families who live away from an older relative. A new video consultation is £300 for 30 minutes, including a written report to you and your GP.

When video works well

Who a video consultation is for

  • follow-up after a clinic appointment or home visit
  • a second opinion on a diagnosis or treatment plan
  • families who live away from an older relative
  • advice about memory, Parkinson’s disease, stroke or medicines when a physical examination is not needed first

Some problems need an examination. If I think a clinic appointment or home visit would be safer or more useful, I will tell you.

How it works

  • Book through the booking form or by phone
  • I confirm the fee and a time that suits you
  • Pay in advance by online banking to confirm the booking
  • I call you using a secured video link at the agreed time
  • You and your GP receive a written report

Questions about video consultations

Which apps do you use?

WhatsApp video or FaceTime, on a phone, tablet or computer. You don’t need to install anything else.

Can I have a video consultation from anywhere?

Video consultations are available to people anywhere in the UK.

How much does a video consultation cost?

A new video consultation is £300 for 30 minutes, and a follow-up is £200 for 30 minutes. Both include a report to your GP.

Can a relative join the call?

Yes. A relative or carer is welcome to join, and it often helps.

Can you diagnose dementia or Parkinson's disease by video?

Video is useful for history, advice and follow-up, but a full memory or Parkinson’s assessment usually needs a face-to-face appointment, in clinic or at home.
