Memory and cognitive assessments
What services do you offer?
I offer a comprehensive and holistic assessment for memory concerns, cognitive decline, and geriatric issues including falls, frailty, Parkinson’s disease, continence problems, and TIA and stroke.
Do I need a referral to book an appointment?
No referral is needed. You can book directly. A letter from your GP still helps, because it gives me your medical history, recent test results and current medicines.
What happens during a memory assessment?
You will have a detailed clinical consultation, cognitive testing, mood assessment and full medical examination. I will also review your medical history, current medications and functional status. If needed, I may recommend blood tests, ECG and brain imaging.
Can you diagnose dementia?
Yes, I can assess for and diagnose different types of dementia including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and frontotemporal dementia, and offer ongoing care planning and advice.
How long is a typical consultation?
A memory assessment involves about two hours of my time: about an hour reviewing the questionnaires you and a relative complete beforehand and preparing a summary, then a consultation of up to 60 minutes. A new clinic consultation for other problems is 60 minutes, and a follow-up 30 minutes.
Can you help determine mental capacity for a specific decision?
Yes, I provide formal mental capacity assessment for decisions such as managing health and welfare, managing finances, independent living, driving, and Power of Attorney evaluations.
What are the next steps after diagnosis?
I offer a clear management plan and advice on lifestyle and medications, and send a written report to you and your GP.

Do you see patients with multiple complex conditions?
Yes, I specialise in managing frailty and multimorbidity in older adults, often coordinating with other specialists and carers to provide holistic care.
What geriatric issues do you manage?
I manage cognitive issues, falls, frailty, incontinence, polypharmacy, osteoporosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, unexplained weight loss and mobility decline.
Do you offer Parkinson's care?
Yes, I offer assessment for Parkinson’s diagnosis and help to optimise medication, reduce falls risk and improve quality of life.
Can I bring a family member or carer to the appointment?
Absolutely. In fact, I encourage family members or carers to attend, especially during memory or cognitive assessments.

Do you offer home visits, and how much do you charge?
Yes. Home visits suit people with mobility problems or significant frailty, and I visit within 50 miles of Sheffield. A new home visit is £500 for 60 minutes and a follow-up is £300 for 30 minutes. Travel is included up to 10 miles from Spire Claremont; beyond this, £100 per extra 10 miles applies. Home visits
Do you offer online or video consultations?
Yes. Video consultations by WhatsApp video or FaceTime are available for patients across the UK, where clinically appropriate. A full memory or Parkinson’s assessment usually needs a face-to-face appointment. Video consultations
Are your services covered by private insurance?
No. I am not registered with any medical insurance company, so all consultations are self-pay.
What is your appointment availability like?
Most people are seen within 24–48 hours, and home visits can often be arranged the same day. This is a planned, non-emergency service. If you think someone is having a stroke (face drooping, arm weakness, speech problems), call 999. For other urgent problems, call NHS 111 or your GP.

Fees and payment
What are your fees? Would you coordinate care with my GP?
A new clinic consultation is £400 for 60 minutes, and a memory assessment is £800 in clinic or £900 at home. Every fee includes a written report to your GP, with a copy to you. All fees

Clinic appointments: I confirm how to pay when you book. Home visits: I send an invoice, payable by online banking, cheque or cash. Video consultations: paid in advance by online banking.
